Our Workmanship Guarantee

At Ben Lord Electrical, we take seriously our legal obligations under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Building Act 2004, as well as our moral obligations to you as a valued customer.

We guarantee our workmanship for 1 year
from the date of completion*

This means that that we undertake to carry out your work with care and skill, using quality materials that are fit for purpose, and to complete your job in a timely manner. If you find a fault or defect with our workmanship, please let us know within 12 months (but as soon as possible!) and we’ll remedy the problem for you.

Additionally, we will stand by any Manufacturer’s Warranties for products that we supply (conditions apply – click here for more details).

* We will meet our obligations under the Building Act 2004 to remedy defects for which we are notified within 12 months from the date of issue of your Certificate of Compliance. Refer to our Information for Homeowners and Information for Businesses.

Ben Lord Electrical is proud to be a Quality Assured Master Electrician. Master Electricians NZ safeguard the quality of our workmanship and provide extra assurance to our residential customers with a one year $20,000 Workmanship Guarantee.

Product Warranties

We’ll present your Warranty Claim to the manufacturer for defective products that we’ve supplied.

If we supply a product and it turns out to be faulty,
we’ll sort it for you**

** Where the manufacturer’s Warranty Claim is upheld, we’ll guarantee our labour time to install the replacement product for up to 2 years from the date of installation for residential customers, and 1 year from the date of installation for non-residential customers.

Information for Homeowners

We will remedy defects notified within 1 year of completion of services, or within 1 year of the date on your Certificate of Compliance, provided that:

The electrical work has been carried out in relation to a household/private individual; and
The electrical work is found to be defective; and
The defect is able to be remedied; and
The electrical work was carried out by or on behalf of Ben Lord Electrical Ltd

We cannot remedy defects or damage where:

The cause is independent of human control
The defect or damage is not caused or partly caused by our workmanship
The cause is by someone who is not an employee or contractor of Ben Lord Electrical Ltd
The customer has failed to properly maintain any goods or follow instructions provided by us
The customer has failed to notify us as soon as practicable after the defect becomes apparent

Product Warranties:

If we supplied a product for you (for example, a light fitting, ceiling fan, power point etc) and the product fails within the manufacturer’s warranty period, we will undertake to pursue the manufacturer on your behalf for a warranty replacement. If the warranty claim is upheld by the manufacturer, we will supply the replacement product to you.

We are not able to offer warranty replacement for customer supplied goods – please contact your retailer in this instance.

Labour time for Product Warranty Claims:

Where a product is found to be faulty and a warranty claim is upheld by the manufacturer, we will warranty our labour time for a period of 2 years, to install a direct replacement in the same location.
This warranty on labour time does not extend to:

Goods that have been installed for more than 2 years, even if the manufacturer’s warranty exceeds this time limit
Any alteration to the original job brief, including but not limited to changes to the location of the installation, or installation of an alternate brand product in the same location
Non-residential customers

Information for Businesses

For non-residential customers we will meet our obligations under the Building Act 2004 to remedy any defects notified within 1 year of completion:

The Customer shall be entitled to any warranties implied by law in sections 362I to 362K, and 362Q of the Building Act 2004.
Ben Lord Electrical will remedy any defective building work which it is liable to remedy under a warranty implied by law, within a reasonable time of either receiving a notice from the customer, or receiving a decision or adjudication in relation to the defect, whichever is later.

Where a product is found to be faulty and a warranty claim is upheld by the manufacturer, we will warranty our labour time for a period of 12 months, to install a direct replacement in the same location.
